VS 2017 - Very slow

Postby fba » February 7th, 2019, 7:58 am

Hi to all
I'm having a lot of problems with VS2017, it's very slow and VS reports that the PHP Tools extension slows down the system.
Also in the PHP pages where there are javascript blocks in the code appears all black with difficulty editing it, occasionally also signals an exception.
Can anyone help me?
I have version 1.30.11095.2017

The slowing down thing is a lot better in the more recent versions, but yes, even with a strong pc and quickz ssd, you'll still occassionally get the message about the extension slowing VS down. What I've found to help best is to actually let the project load entirely (which might take a little while, you can see indexing progress in the lower left status bar) and only then start to work. At that point, there are usually no performance issues.

As for JavaScript, I don't think you should keep JS code inside .php files. Inside .html and .js files, Visual Studio should automatically use the correct syntax highlighting if you have Node.JS support installed for VS.
