Php Tools Wish List

Postby virgil66ro » August 23rd, 2012, 4:32 pm

Hi,

This are my most desirable wishes for Php Tools:

- An integrated and easy to use FTP (Most wanted)
- Possibility to select the Line Endings settings for the entire project
- Array's key intellisense

Hi Virgil,

Thank you for your ideas!

- An integrated and easy to use FTP (Most wanted)

We'll take a look at this. There should be easy way to deploy or just keep at sync projects localy and on sever with FTP,... There is for example option to Open Web Site from FTP in Visual Studio itself, but it's not probably what you have in mind.

- Possibility to select the Line Endings settings for the entire project

Good Idea! I think this feature would be actually useful not just for PHP as Visual Studio doesn't have something like project wide line endings normalization, just file normalization.

- Array's key intellisense

Yes, array's key intellisense is already planned

Thanks again. If you'll get any more ideas, give us know!

Hi,
Please do not be upset that I allowed to do this proposal.
I think that the fastest method of FTP transfer is something like in the image attached.
After the user had defined the FTP connection data, he will be able to right click the mouse and on the VS Menu, will have a new option (last one in this image).
The option will allow the user to upload a file, directory or the entire project on FTP.
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Isn't this something that VS already has capabilities for? If so, is it just going to take a while to get PHP Tools capable of using that functionality (similar to project references)?

Yes, VS has already FTP publishing/opening support. PHP Tools just has to use it properly I guess.

"An integrated and easy to use FTP (Most wanted)"

I am using the FTP-Feature of Visual Studio. Just Click "Open -> Existing Website -> FTP". Then enter FTP Credentials and voilá :)
