VS Crashes when "Tools for Visual Studio" windows pops up.

Postby gfoster » November 26th, 2013, 4:58 pm

I have downloaded and installed the preview on VS 2010 Professional a few days ago. All seemed great for a while, and then VS started crashing when the "Tools for Visual Studio" window popped up. Based on what I read, i assumed this is the licensing reminder window, but I have never actually seen the contents as the window and VS just hangs until forcing restart.

This seems to happen after 5 minutes or so of editing files. There have been a few times where I was able to close the popup, and resume editing, but without intelli-sense.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Your product is a perfect fit for my current project, and I really want to make this work!

Hi,

Thank you for your feedback. May I ask you to start your Visual Studio with /Log parameter, e.g.
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 10.0\Common7\IDE\devenv.exe" /Log

wait for the crash, and send us ActivityLog.xml file (in "%AppData%\Microsoft\VisualStudio\10.0\")

Thanks,
